About Us

Association of Lawyers with Lawyers Disabilities in Nigeria (ALDIN) is a Non-Governmental Not-for-profit, registered as incorporated Trustees, under Part “C” of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, CAP C.20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, with No. CAC/IT/NO 101427. The date of formal registration is the 6th day of October, 2017.

ALDIN is not an ordinary Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPD), but, as the name implies, professional, umbrella body, of all Nigerian lawyers with disabilities, both in Nigeria and in the Diaspora. It is the first of its kind in Africa, and so far, the only of its kind in Nigeria.

Our Objectives

Objective 1

Promotion of rights of lawyers, and other persons, with disabilities.

Objective 2

Development of disability jurisprudence in Nigeria.
Promotion of favourable disability policies at all levels and spheres in Nigeria.

Objective 3

Promotion of disability- inclusive practices and legislations.

Objective 4

Propagation of the social model of disability.
Actualization of the removal of all social and architectural barriers standing against persons with disabilities in the society.

Promotion of the general welfare and career development of lawyers with disabilities.

To create enabling environment for lawyers with disabilities to function optimally in every sphere of the law practice.

Objective 7

Collaborating with the Nigerian Bar Association and other associations of lawyers, nationally and internationally as well as United Nations and her agencies, to ensure the maximum inclusion of persons with disabilities in all their activities.

Capacity building of individuals and organizations working in the field of disability.

Promotion of the introduction of disability law in the curricula of contemporary legal education in Nigeria.
