ALDIN has been reliably informed that Kassim Lawal Esq., a visually impaired lawyer, the Abuja Chairman of Association of Lawyers with Disabilities in Nigeria (ALDIN), and member of the Unity Bar was on the evening of 19th of April, 2020 brutalized by a team of Policemen at the Kubwa area of Abuja.
He was on essential duty, delivering palliatives to other persons with disabilities, who were stranded owing to the lockdown and gave out a distress call.
The said policemen swooped on him, clubbing him to the ground. They left him in bloodied and zoomed off.
We have notified the relevant Branch and National leadership of the NBA.
ALDIN will not allow this incident to be swept under the carpet.
